Message An alternative, which is what I did years ago, was to insert the bolt from the wheel well side and put a washer, lock washer and nut on the engine bay side. I measured and ordered new hardened bolt lengths on line and it worked out great.

The reason I did it that way - couldn't get enough brake MC movement without fully removing it (and I had just completed a full brake bleed job). The brake MC still needed to be unbolted to dremel the stock bolt metal spacing bar in half. Bending the MC brake lines enough for the long shim bolts would have messed up the lines IMHO.
